Noto is also called the "Capital of the Baroque" declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, together with the Val di Noto. After the earthquake of 1693, in which Noto was completely destroyed and rebuilt using the limpid local limestone, the greatest artists and architects of Sicily of the time were asked to plan this reconstruction. Crossing the Porta Reale, in Corso Vittorio Emanuele, you can admire the wonders of this beautiful city.
